With decades of combined experience, founders Dave Vaea and Justin Nessen have built Modern Concrete on the principles of relationship-building, quality, and commitment.
With 27 years of experience across a wide range of commercial, residential, and industrial projects, Dave brings a deep understanding of what it takes to make each job a success. From LDS churches to large retail centers and city public works, Dave has worked as an estimator, project manager, and construction manager, making him uniquely qualified to collaborate with any project team. His expertise has driven successful projects such as the JL Sorenson Recreation Center, Herriman Fire Stations, South Jordan Public Works, and multiple Auto Zone and Sam’s Club locations.
Dave’s approach centers on building strong relationships. He firmly believes that the best outcomes come from working closely with clients, employees, and contractors, and he is committed to ensuring each project is completed on time and within budget.
A family man and seasoned entrepreneur, Justin brings over 30 years of construction experience to Modern Concrete. Growing up on a northern Utah farm and working in excavation, he developed a strong work ethic and love for construction from a young age. With a BS in Manufacturing Engineering from Weber State University and an MS in Industrial Management from the University of Texas at Tyler, Justin’s career has included 18 years in engineering and leadership roles at Caterpillar, where he honed his expertise in project management and operations.
Justin founded his own decorative concrete, coatings, and polishing company before joining forces with Dave in 2024. As a concrete and construction expert, Justin focuses on providing Modern Concrete clients with cutting-edge solutions and uncompromising quality. A community servant and business innovator, Justin is committed to Modern Concrete’s mission of delivering exceptional results and building enduring relationships.
